Dr Savithi Somachandra

Savithi hails from Sri Lanka and completed her medical training at Manipal College of Medical Sciences, Nepal. She undertook her residency years at Tasmanian Health Service and Barwon Health.

Drawn to general practice, she has gained broad range of experience across various disciplines of medicine including gastroenterology, respiratory medicine, haematology, medical oncology, geriatric medicine, obstetrics and gynaecology, paediatrics and palliative care.

With a strong interest in women’s health and paediatrics, she has completed the Certificate of Women’s Health (Royal Australian College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists) and Graduate Diploma of Child Health (University of Western Sydney).

Savithi enjoys general practice across the whole spectrum of life. She is a registrar, a fully qualified doctor undertaking specialist general practice training. Her special interests include chronic disease management, preventative medicine, women’s health, and paediatrics.

Outside of medicine she enjoys spending time with her family, exploring nature trails and playing badminton.
